Weekly routine

I have been interviewing with some companies for a job. I have been looking to get back into the hotel or restaurant business. I usually go on one interview each week. The same thing happens each time. I do not get a call back. This makes me think that a 53 year old is going to have a tough time getting a job in these bussinesses. I think that its not right that a person with experience, who is an honest worker, can not get hired due to his age.. I hate this but accept it. My thinking is that I can make a living freelancing and so I am not worried. Thank you Craigslist for getting me some leads to work in things I like to do, making web sites and fixing computers.

Web 2.0 Has Corporate America Spinning
What every CEO needs to know about the array of new tools that foster online collaboration — and could revolutionize business
Silicon Valley loves its buzzwords, and there’s none more popular today than Web 2.0. Unless you’re a diehard techie, though, good luck figuring out what it means. Web 2.0 technologies bear strange names like wikis, blogs, RSS, AJAX, and mashups. Web 2.0 sites are not online places to visit so much as services to get something done — usually with other people. From Yahoo!’s (YHOO) photo-sharing site Flickr and the group-edited online reference source Wikipedia to the teen hangout MySpace, and even search giant Google (GOOG), they all virtually demand active participation and social interaction (see BW Online, 9/26/05, “It’s A Whole New Web”). If these Web 2.0 folks weren’t so geeky, they might call it the Live Web. more…

Intel Core 2 Duo performance preview
 By Lars-Göran Nilsson

Preview Last week, Intel gathered the European press in Munich for a sneak peek at its the Core 2 Duo chip - aka ‘Conroe’. Reg Hardware was there. We were limited to running a set of pre-installed benchmarks on the systems provided so this isn’t a conclusive performance review of what Core 2 Duo is capable of…more

News of the Day

I thought this story was very funny… Only because I share similar ideas about sports. I remember once sharing my true thoughts on the subject with an avid sports fan and watching the reaction.. It was if I had committed a horrible crime against the community.

Hideous company sends Boing Boing a pre-emptive nastygram
I just opened a letter sent to Boing Boing from some fools at Baker & McKenzie LLP in London.
The letter states that their client, Infront Sports & Media, “anticipates the possibility of unauthorized streaming and downloading of FIFA World Cup matches.” The letter goes on to warn Boing Boing that Baker & McKenzie will be “actively monitoring your website … to identify unlawful activity and will, if necessary, take appropriate action to ensure the protection of Infront’s rights of those licenses.” More
